RECON COMPANY of the KOREAN WAR 1950 to 1953 the
upcoming book by Jerry Ravino will cover the first
combat copter landings behind enemy lines in Korea,
operation Drysdale with the accounts of Sgt. Morrie
Estes as a prisoner of war and his escape with 17
others,
The Elite
The first use of copters taking wounded to MASH
and hospital ships at Inchon, Harbor,
Recon Company, along with 4 flame tanks covering
Operation Big Switch that included the exchange
of the CCF our Prisoners of war. The USMCs Little
Foreign Legion recruited and made up of Marines
mostly from other countries for intelligence purposes,
many individual accounts of Recon Company courage
exploiting via patrol what the enemy was planning.
A full tribute with pictures of many KIAs..MIAs
and wounded in action. The forward will be done
by Col. Clyde Hunter, USMC Ret. a veteran of Okinawa,
Iwo Jima, Korea and the C.O. of the 26 th. USMC
Regamental combat outfit located at Elephant Valley,
Vietnam. Clyde was one of my commanding officers
when we served in the First Tank Battalion, First
Marine Division FMF Korea.
